University of Arizona
Why should you
become a member?
In 2006, only 23 percent of solo
exhibitions in NYC art galleries were by women artists.
Many museums'
collections consist of only 5%-10% works by women artists.
Only 30% of Art
Review's Power 100 are women in the arts.
There are 80 percent
female students at the School of Visual Arts. But in the real world, there are
70 to 80 percent male artists in galleries and museums.

The
officers of FACE strive to provide an opportunity for female student artists to
gain the necessary skills that are demanded by the competitive art world of
today. As a member, student artists are given the chance to attend workshops
that educate on the business aspects of being a professional artist while
facilitating an environment that encourages the growth of own their personal
styles. Even though FACE aims to foster the development of emerging female student
artists, club membership is not limited to only females or only U of A students;
we strongly encourage male artists and local/professional artists to support us
and join us in our mission. After all, art and art education impacts all of our communities!
